Edgars, the Oxfordshire-based independent planning consultancy, has been named as a finalist in the category for Planning Consultancy of the Year at the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) Awards for Planning Excellence 2020.
The RTPI Awards for Planning Excellence are the most established and respected awards in the UK planning industry. Running for over 40 years, they celebrate exceptional examples of planning and the contribution planners make to society.
Edgars’ vision is “Planning for the future imagined” to meet its clients’ ambitions by developing its employees and business while actively promoting the profession. Edgars now totals 12 planners, including four apprentices through RTPI’s trailblazer group, who together undertake work of the highest standard by collaborating with local planning authorities and leading consultant teams to deliver high quality development for communities.
Jayne Norris, director, Edgars said: “To be nominated for this award is a great achievement for the whole team. We have a high commitment to staff development to deliver the best possible advice to our loyal client base. I believe it is our strong ethos, clear values, and local authority insight, that set us apart from others so that clients feel nurtured, staff are developed and stretched, local authorities know that their positions will be understood and when working as part of a project team, everyone knows that we will work collaboratively.”
RTPI President Sue Manns FRTPI said: “Many congratulations to all the finalists at this year’s RTPI Awards for Planning Excellence, representing the very best of our profession from not only all the RTPI’s regions and nations but also from countries around the globe.
“These outstanding projects, teams and individuals show how planning can have a positive effect on our communities and the environment and how planners can use their expertise and enthusiasm to create inclusive, happy and healthy places and spaces for ourselves and for future generations.
“I wish them all the best of the luck at the ceremony on 30 April.”
Andrew Jones MRTPI, practice leader design planning + economics at AECOM, said: “AECOM is proud to once again be a headline sponsor of this year’s RTPI Awards for Planning Excellence. The finalists are a diverse mixture of outstanding examples of planning, which demonstrate the breadth of the impact the profession has on quality place making and delivery in the built environment.”
